eCollege® Partners with Elluminate to Deliver Highly Collaborative, Intuitive and Scalable Synchronous Suite

Fully Integrated Synchronous Suite Supports Quality Student Experience and Improved Retention

DENVER — April 24, 2006 — eCollege® [Nasdaq: ECLG], a leading provider of value-added information services to the post-secondary education industry, today announced a partnership with Elluminate, Inc. to advance the eCollege ClassLive synchronous suite, which is included as part of eCollege's core distance learning platform. Powered by Elluminate, a leading provider of live eLearning and Web collaboration solutions for real-time interaction, the synchronous suite will provide a highly collaborative, intuitive and scalable environment.

"Research shows that real-time interactivity in online courses creates a sense of community that has been proven to increase student performance and retention rates," said Maurice Heiblum, president of Elluminate USA, Inc. "eCollege shares our commitment to driving student retention, and we believe our partnership will further enhance the quality of a student's online experience."

eCollege is seamlessly integrating Elluminate Live!™, a real-time virtual classroom that replicates learning activities online, directly into its course environment. This enables users to engage in synchronous interaction without going outside of the platform. ClassLive powered by Elluminate, which will be automatically available to eCollege customers this summer, includes a shared whiteboard, interactive text chat and record/playback capabilities. Additionally, eCollege customers can upgrade to ClassLive Pro and access two-way voice over IP, application sharing, breakout rooms, video and other media-rich content.

The advanced ClassLive synchronous suite will enable greater collaboration among large and small groups. Additionally, it will provide a highly intuitive interface so users can concentrate more on interaction and less on the technology, as well as increased scalability to handle the growing demand for synchronous tools.

"Our partnership with Elluminate allows us to take ClassLive to the next level as an increasing number of our customers look to leverage synchronous tools to deliver a more interactive learning experience," said Oakleigh Thorne, chairman and CEO of eCollege. "Elluminate has designed its solutions specifically to meet the needs of distance learners and instructors, which aligns with our focus on delivering solutions t hat drive the growth and success of full online programs."

In addition to working with Elluminate to advance ClassLive, eCollege also has made enhancements to the chat functionality of its synchronous suite. Specifically, users now can customize the size of the chat window so they can toggle between the chat functionality and other areas of their online course.
