While there are currently excellent videoconferencing products on the market, Elluminate developed its newest product in response to customer feedback about challenges with some of these offerings. Issues include exorbitant costs, limited scalability, significant hardware requirements, ongoing reliance on IT support, and the inability to invite participants on an ad hoc basis.

Elluminate VCS leverages these large investments in videoconferencing systems, while increasing ROI through integration and endpoint extension at low cost. In addition, traditional videoconferencing does not provide the ease of use, interactive tools, data sharing, ad hoc invitations, and easy access needed to facilitate a truly collaborative experience for a wide audience.

The product enables academic institutions, corporations, and other organizations to leverage large investments in legacy videoconferencing infrastructure by including desktop PCs. Primarily a software solution, Elluminate VCS requires a customer premise equipment (CPE) server that operates on exceptionally well on network speeds less than typical DSL connections and works with existing legacy H.323 infrastructure.

Elluminate VCS extends video endpoints to reach more participants in a significantly more convenient and cost-effective way, adding an interactive collaborative environment that includes intuitive presence awareness, session scheduling, and management tools.
