Live eLearning Environment Also Facilitates Cross-Cultural Communication and Development of Peer-Based Support Structure
Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, (November 20, 2006) —
Elluminate, Inc., a leading provider of live eLearning and web collaboration solutions for the real-time
organization, announced today that Prince Albert Grand Council (PAGC) Education Services has implemented
Elluminate
Live!® Academic Edition™, adding daily synchronous interaction to its online
learning initiative, Credenda Virtual High School (CVHS). In addition, PAGC uses Elluminate
Live!
for instructor virtual office hours, remote IT support, weekly staff meetings and ongoing professional
development. The organization is also exploring ways to expand the use of Elluminate
Live! into
other key areas, such as enabling nurses in remote health clinics to access doctors and medical services
not locally available.
According to Vince Hill, PAGC's associate director of education, CVHS was created to provide access to
the wide range of courses students in remote areas need for university admission. At the same time, Hill
realized that synchronous technology had to be a key component of the online delivery system. "My research
showed that what made eLearning successful was being able to establish relationships with students similar
to those in a face-to-face classroom," said Hill. "After looking at a number of solutions, our unanimous
conclusion was that Elluminate
Live! was by far the best product. It's stable and robust, enabling
us to deliver resources effectively to remote areas with dial-up connectivity."
"While First Nation schools tend to work more in isolation, we have pooled our Elluminate
Live!
licenses with those of Prairie Spirit School Division to provide access to its accredited teachers," added Hill.
"Elluminate
Live! also enables students to connect with their peers in other communities, crossing
cultural boundaries between language groups and allowing students to see a bigger world. Our hope is that
when students leave our communities they will already have an established support structure to help them
succeed in the post-secondary environment."
"We are pleased that the Prince Albert Grand Council has implemented live eLearning as a daily activity
for its students," said Nashir Samanani, CEO of Elluminate, Inc. "Elluminate
Live! is designed
to provide access to high-quality learning for those students who would otherwise be deprived. We
applaud the efforts of PAGC to promote excellence in education for First Nation students."
