Northampton Community College Enhances Instruction, Student Services, Faculty Professional Development, and More with Elluminate Live!®
According to Kelvin Bentley, PhD, Northampton Community College’s Director of Distance Learning, the college needed a real-time, synchronous way to provide tutoring assistance that simulated the experience available on campus at the Learning Center. The answer was to purchase an unlimited-seat license that allows NCC to use Elluminate Live! in a wide variety of innovative and creative ways.
"While Elluminate Live! enables us to enhance our instruction and student services, it also helps close a big communication gap with our distance learners to build a stronger sense of community", explained Bentley. "In addition, since 80% of our online instructors are adjunct faculty, we use Elluminate Live! to help them feel more connected to the college."
"My role is to make sure that everything we do is of the highest quality," he added. "We want to serve as an example of a distance learning model that appropriately uses technology at the state and community college levels. We accomplish this in part by using Elluminate’s great web conferencing tool to enhance our online and hybrid instruction as well as our ability to effectively communicate with our students and faculty."
